Tibet The 2008 Beijing Olympics are going to be in 7 days, and this year as the event is held in China there’s a full page ad in The New York Times urging at least one athlete to “speak up for Tibet.” The ad is placed by a group called Students for a Free Tibet and its allies in the International Tibet Support Network. The ad guide users to the web site in which suggested ways they could display solidarity with Tibet while at the Games.

Enerpulse As the gas prices is on the rise, Enerpulse is introducing their “pulse technology.” Enerpulse makes unique kind of spark plug that generates more poser through “pulse technology.” “We were finding that more people who just had regular cars and were interested in fuel economy were buying our products,” Enerpulse’s marketing manager, Natalie Carter, tells Marketing Daily.

They’ve shifted their marketing strategy from stressing increased performance to stressing fuel economy. Their new print and televisions advertising campaign shows a gas pump as a boxer beating customer up. The tagline “Tired of getting beat up at the pump?” The overall message of the ad brings the message to consumers to “fight back” using the Pulstar spark plugs.

Adidas “Insider” Olympic Print Ad

For the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is launching a print ad in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Australia. Featured athletes in the ad includes Russian pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva; American sprinter Tyson Gay; American track star Jeremy Wariner; South Korean weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran; and Taiwan taekwondo athletes Zhu Mu-Yen and Yang Shu-Jun. The print ad shows each athlete performing with multiple limbs which represents that the athletes are performing better as they received support from other people.

Nike Pulls Ad Due To “Fed Homophobic View”

Nike Nike will pull ads “That Ain’t Right,” “Isn’t That Cute,” and “Punks Jump Up.” due to criticism that they “fed homophobic views,” according to the Oregonian. One of the ad showed one basketball player dunking over another. The crotch of the player dunking was planted firmly in the other player’s face. The tag line of the ad was “That Ain’t Right.” The ads were created by Portland’s Wieden + Kennedy agency.



McDonald Celebrating the Olympic Spirit with 2008 Olympic Champion Crew

McDonald created a campaign in which each crew member created a short video expressing his or her Olympic spirit in just five words. There are a total of 22 finalists competing. Now until August 7, consumers can go online to mcdonalds.com to vote for their favourite videos of members of the company’s 2008 Olympic Champion Crew. The winner of the video contest will be announced August 14. in Beijing during the Games while McDonald’s Olympic Champion Crew members are there.
